Me!
My career and my academic work started with my interest and desire to work for and with people with disabilities. I have spent the majority of my life in the field of mental health, advocating for fairness, equality and many other social justice issues that impact marginalized groups and vulnerable persons.
For as long as I can remember, I have loved to listen to the stories of people’s lives. I am guided by my unwavering belief that should anyone find themselves in need of help, they should always have access to it. I am a self-proclaimed semi-professional dog scratcher and lover of all animals (mammals, reptiles, insects & rodents included). My bulldog Milton is almost always beside me, so if you have a pet, Milton and I welcome them to come along.
Education
I am a graduate of the University of Calgary Social Work program with a Degree in Social Work and a Masters Degree in Clinical Social Work/Psychotherapy as well as a Diploma in Disability Studies from Mount Royal University. I have spent many years working in various areas of mental health, primarily with persons with dual diagnoses and complex mental health needs. I continue to welcome people of all ages above seven years, from all walks of life, during any parts of their journey. I especially enjoy working with teenagers and young adults.
